About the Consent Drive

The Consent Drive is an initiative under our ASRHR programme which aims to create better conditions for informed decision-making about their health, sexuality and wellbeing. Through comprehensive sexual health education, and improved access to youth-friendly SRHR services, the project aims to reduce new HIV infections and empower young people to exercise their rights confidently and safely. Implemented across multiple regions in Ghana in partnership with civil society organizations, the project also builds the capacity of youth and stakeholders to share knowledge, strengthen communities, and promote lasting positive change.

The project aims to:

Create better conditions for informed decision-making regarding sexual health and reproduction among young people
Reduce new HIV infections.
Improve access to SRH services.
Ensure adolescent girls receive comprehensive sex education and youth-friendly SRH services while promoting their rights.

Coverage

The Project At A Glance

Sexual health is broader, focusing on physical, emotional, mental, and social well-being in relation to sexuality, including pleasure, relationships, and freedom from coercion. Essentially, sexual health encompasses the broader aspects of relationships, sexual life and rights. Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (ASRHR) is a crucial field focusing on the health needs and human rights of young people (typically ages 10-19) during their transition to adulthood, encompassing access to comprehensive sexuality education, contraception, safe abortion, STI prevention (including HIV), and protection from violence, ensuring they can make informed decisions about their bodies and futures free from coercion, discrimination, and infection, leading to better overall well-being and societal development.
