The HealthSpot Project

The HealthSpot Project is a  community sexual and reproductive health SRH outreach initiative targeting adolescents and young adults in universities in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana. The project will combine community and campus‑based education, free SRH supplies, signposting to our digital very‑brief‑advice VBA support and strong referral linkages to existing health facilities.

Urban areas combine universities, senior high schools, informal apprenticeships and busy markets, creating intense exposure to sexual risk but uneven access to stigma‑free care.

Evidence from Ghanaʼs National STIs and HIV/AIDS Control Programme shows STI cases rise when condom distribution is low, and negative cultural attitudes, embarrassment and stigma further reduce condom use.   Thus, this project is focused on:

1. Deliver condom use education on campuses
2. Address the prevailing negative cultural norms that also perpetuate stigma
3. Reinforce the importance of consistent condom use.
